Welcome to Dewslake Camping: Our Friendly Guidelines
At Dewslake Camping, we aim to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible, whether you’re savouring delicious food and enjoying live music at The Rowan Tree Cafe or relaxing on your pitch we hope to create an atmosphere of joy and respect between all our staff and guests.
To help us achieve this, we kindly ask all guests to read and accept our terms and conditions. This helps us maintain our standards, ensures your safety, and establishes a clear agreement regarding cancellations, damages, and exceptional circumstances.
Arrival and Departure
Check-in: Glamping accommodations (including shepherd’s huts and bell tents) are available from 3pm. Camping pitches are available from 12pm.
Check-out: We ask that you vacate all accommodations and pitches by 11am leaving them clean and tidy.
Booking
Upon making a booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email with details of your accommodation, dates, and payment. Booking and payment of the deposit create a legal contract.
Group Bookings
We’re happy to welcome groups, however, we do ask that if you’re part of a group of more than 10 adults, even if you’re booking separately, please let us know in advance so we can make sure there’s a suitable area for you to camp together.
To help keep everyone’s stay pleasant and enjoyable, we ask each group to nominate a ‘team leader’. This person is responsible for making sure everyone in the group knows the site rules, will be the main point of contact for the Dewslake team and for paying the group bond before arrival.
The group bond is £100 per stay, plus £5 per adult per night.
Payment & Cancellations
Full payment for all accommodations and pitches is required 30 days before your arrival. A non-refundable 30% deposit is taken at the time of booking, and the remaining balance will be automatically processed 30 days before your arrival. If you prefer an alternative payment method, please get in touch with us directly.
We realise that sometimes plans change and if possible we will offer you alternative dates to suit both us and yourselves. If that is not possible we will apply the following:
- A cancellation up to 1 month before arrival = retained deposit (30% of booking cost)
- A cancellation from 1 month to 1 week before arrival = 50% of booking cost
- A cancellation within 1 week of arrival = 100% of booking cost
We recommend you take holiday cancellation insurance to cover any loss. In the unlikely event that any of our accommodation is not available due to fire, flood or other unforeseen circumstances, Dewslake Camping cannot accept liability or responsibility for any loss, including consequential loss, but the full cost of the holiday will be refunded.
Age Policy
We do not accept bookings from anyone under 18 without parental approval.
Cleaning
As our showers, toilets, and communal areas are shared, we kindly ask that you clean up after using them and consider other guests. Please leave the kitchen, toilets, and showers as you found them, and let us know of any issues. We regularly clean these areas and manage recycling, so please keep your pitch, cabin, or bell tent tidy and dispose of litter in the bins provided. Remember, a clean environment is vital for wildlife!
Barbecues and Fires
We love a good campfire and cooking over an open flame – it’s all part of the camping experience! But safety is essential. Here’s what you need to know:
-
Fires and barbecues must be raised off the ground – never directly on the grass or on picnic benches.
-
Keep a safe distance – all tents, gazebos, and anything flammable should be at least 6 metres away from your fire or barbecue.
-
Only use proper fuel – logs or charcoal are fine, but never use lighter fluid, petrol, or any other accelerants.
-
Stay alert – you’re responsible for any fire you light. Never leave it unattended, and make sure it’s fully out before heading to bed.
-
Be prepared – always have a bucket of water nearby, just in case. Fire extinguishers can be found at the fire points please be aware of where your nearest one is.
-
Check conditions – if it’s dry or windy, fires may not be allowed. If a member of staff asks you not to light a fire or to put one out, please follow their advice straight away.
-
Carbon monoxide is dangerous – never use barbecues or fire pits inside tents or enclosed spaces.
-
Ashes must be disposed of properly – use the metal ash bins provided.
While we do our best to keep the site safe, we cannot accept responsibility for any accidents or losses.
Thanks for helping us keep the campsite safe and the fire-friendly atmosphere burning bright (and safely)!
No Hunting or Fireworks
For safety reasons, no firearms, hunting equipment, fireworks, or Chinese lanterns are allowed on the farm. Naked flames are also prohibited inside tents or glamping accommodations.
Negligence
Guests are responsible for any damage caused by negligence, including to our structures, land, or fences. Charges may apply for repairs or replacements.
Noise
We appreciate good music and welcome musicians, but amplified music, or revelry that disturbs other guests or local residents, is not permitted at any time. We request low noise levels from 10pm to 8am to ensure everyone can enjoy a peaceful stay. Guests causing disturbances may be asked to leave without a refund.
No Smoking Policy
All buildings, including cabins and bell tents, have a strict no-smoking policy. If you smoke outdoors, please dispose of your cigarette butts responsibly.
Pets
Dogs are welcome! Please keep them on a lead in camping fields and clean up after them. Be mindful of livestock in nearby fields.
Rubbish and Recycling
We’re passionate about recycling and need your help! Please use our recycling facilities for tins, plastics, paper & card (rinse food containers first) and food waste. Do not put glass in bin bags; instead, use the separate bin provided.
Lost or Stolen Property
Dewslake Camping cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items. If we find lost property, we’ll keep it for a few days or safeguard valuable items. Unclaimed items will be donated to charity or recycled if appropriate.
Cars
Free parking is available on-site. Please drive slowly as children may be playing. You may drive to your pitch to unload, and then return your vehicle to the central car park —unless you’re in a campervan or a tentbox!
Livestock
As part of a working farm, we occasionally have livestock in the surrounding fields. Please admire them from a safe distance and avoid feeding or approaching them.
Electric Vehicle Charging & Generators
We do not permit charging electric vehicles from the camping hook-ups. Cars must remain in the central car park except for unloading and loading. Generators are not permitted.
Thank you for helping us maintain a friendly and enjoyable environment at Dewslake Camping!
